Our client, a new Non-Interest Bank setting up in Nigeria is looking to hire a Trade Finance Officer who will be responsible for:
- Efficiently managing the Bank’s treasury through inter-bank Murabaha deposits
- Being a thought leader in the development of a Sharia-compliant inter-bank market
- Ensuring that investments conform to the Halal index
- Development of an appropriate secondary market for treasury, including the Musharakah Mutanaqisah within the Sukuk market
- Development of strategies for cash management, debt, investment and currency management
- Managing and controlling operational risks within defined parameters.
- Quantifying and reporting the impact of market volatility
- Adapting to the client’s business and the competitive landscape changes, particularly as new instruments come to market.
- Developing and implementing a treasury management system (TMS) that meets the demands of the compliance-focused non-interest banking
- Putting in place strong audit systems and controls within the Treasury function
- Developing and implementing all Treasury policies
- Coordinating the Assets & Liabilities Management Committee
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory internal ratios and limits relating to Treasury products and the bank’s balance sheet
- Managing the bank's trading and investment bond portfolios.
- Ensuring liquidity and profitability of the bank at all times.
- Managing relationship with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
- Managing and reconciling Nostro accounts
- Managing trade credit exposures.
- Ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Routinely monitoring global economic and political developments that can affect prices
- Networking with analysts and investment managers
- Analysing reports/research compiled by investment analysts to identify market opportunities
- Monitoring and reporting market performance
Requirements
The Ideal Candidate must meet the following requirement:
- Relevant professional certifications e.g. ACI or Treasury Dealership Certificate
- A sound first degree
- Over 10 years of post-graduation relevant work experience, inclusive of at least 8 in senior Treasury-related functions
- Excellent knowledge of financial markets and non-interest banking products
- Understanding of the concept of Halal compliance
- Broad knowledge of the securities and equities markets and services
- Specialist knowledge of securities products such as derivatives, bonds and funds, and secondary trading markets
- Excellent analytical skills
- Ability to forecast accurately
- Excellent knowledge of regulatory framework and requirements
- Good risk management skills
- Negotiation skills
- Excellent numerical skills
- Sound trading knowledg

Review new/updated policies & procedures Assurance activities:Work with the P&CI Manager to support Global and External Audit to efficiently plan and execute audits and to drive closure of audit findings.Participates in business process oriented internal control reviews, compliance audits and activities that deliver the P&CI plan to provide the business with comfort in the internal control environment. Continuous Process Improvement:Provide direct support to the P&CI Manager to embed a process improvement culture, drive process and control improvement and realize benefits.Challenge existing processes to identify improvement opportunities using benchmarks and external best practices.
